About David de Almeida
1945: He was born in São Pedro do Sul, where he would later attend the Lithographic Engraver Course and the Sociedade Cooperativa de Gravadores, at the António Arroio School. Interned at Moinhos do Vale do Lagat in France, specializing in manual paper making. He studied Holography at Goldsmiths University of London and interned with Stanley Hayter at Atelier 17 in Paris.
1970: Starts to exhibit individually and collectively, having participated in art fairs such as Artexpo in New York, Estampa and Arco in Madrid and Frankfurt and in International Biennials in São Paulo, Ljubljana, Krakow , Paris and San Francisco.
The 70s: From the 70s onwards, he began to receive several awards for his work in printmaking, predominantly tactile and visual, coming from the world of the senses. David de Almeida would become one of the most outstanding Portuguese engravers.
1977: At age 32, he receives the Gold Medal from the Spanish Engravers Association in Madrid.

1980: Received the National Engraving Award in Portugal.
1982: Engraving Prize at the Bienal de Vila Nova de Cerveira de 1982.
1986: Acquisition prize at the III Plastic Arts Exhibition of the C. Gulbenkian Foundation.
1997: He was made Commander of the Order of Infante D. Henrique.
1999: National Engraving Award – Contemporary Spanish Engraving Museum, Spain.
2000: Honorable Mention – National Engraving Award – National Calcografia/Phillip Morris, Madrid.
2004: Prémio Julio Prieto Nespereira - Bronze Medal, at the VIII Bienal Internacional de Grabado Caixanova, Ourense.
2006: Jesús Núñez International Prize for Graphic Art, in Betanzos (A Coruña).
2014: Year of death.
